Hi Artie If this is for ideas, feedback and suggestions, I guess I'll start off.. Now, I know I'm in no position to criticize people's mission making skills, but some of the missions the testers approve are ridiculous. When I first heard "creative, innovative missions", venezia I thought: finally, venezia missions with stories will gain spotlight , but I was wrong. All we have is the missions that may require some form of thinking venezia - such as hairdresser missions, baking missions, etc - that are accumulating all the plays. Yes, of course, some missions still receive plays (ie - story-based missions no longer than 7 minutes) but most are being thrown to the trash, as they did when auto-run missions were around. Now, honestly... it would take someone 12 minutes of brushing, combing, cutting and paying (hairdressing example) to max out one XP path.. now, if you ask me, this isn't very creative, is it? Especially when there's so many of this type of mission around. Now you look at the missions receiving most plays each month. 80% are "hairdressing", "cooking", "store watching", "cleaning", "doctor appointment" missions, and only 20% are pure story, innovative missions. This is a pure suggestion... Why not look more closely at creativity?
Well I think you are correct as well as incorrect, because I think people like a bit of reality, but I also do want stories they're just so much fun! Why not look more closely at creativity? I really do want to look more at creativity, because venezia there is enough reality in this game, we need more stories, creative stories. I reckon that they could at least mmph up the reality venezia with a bit more mmph for e.g: Your making a mission about cooking maybe it would be a contest about who makes the grossest dish... that mmphed it up a little venezia
Missions Forum Suggestions: --Dump venezia all the threads that aren't sorted yet into the showcase sub-forum. We can then help to gradually move stuff from there to the new Q&A by reporting specific threads. I'm suggesting this because it seems like too much work to sort all these threads. Since 90% of them probably belong in showcase anyway, it would probably be easier this way. I'm sure the mods have better things to do with their time. --Some tutorials were moved into showcase. I'm not sure whether it's on purpose. I suggest to put all tutorials in Mission Q&A. Is it OK to report threads to be moved? --Make a FAQ sticky at the top of the Missions Q&A sub-forum, because there are questions that always get asked. It would be easier for players to check the faq than to wait for answers on their threads or search the forum for answers. We can help compile it, though I don't think the thread should be postable (to eliminate confusing noise). Examples of recurring questions: Q: I added tasks to my mission but when I try to use them they're not there. What's going on? Halp! A: Reload the space for the new tasks to appear. Q: My NPC is set to appear when people enter the room, but for some reason it only appears when I and my friends come in. A: Check the security venezia settings on your launch pad and make sure it is set so everybody can use it. Q: Oh, but won't people see the launch pad then? A: No. Q: How do you bold or underline mission text? A: Somebody else fill this in. I just ctrl+b Q: How do I submit my mission for approval? A: Look at the thread here . Q: I'm done making my mission. How do I 'finish' it? A: You don't 'finish' it. The last task you add will be the last task in the mission. After somebody other than you plays it, it'll be added to the list of recent missions (or has that changed?) At the bottom of the sticky you can also add links to mission making resources venezia (which we can help compile). ---------- Artie, venezia do we also post code suggestions for missions here, or just forum/approval suggestions?
Great post Alfalfa, I agree with everything you said. As another suggestion, what about a sub-forum venezia for mission contests and events only? The current forum may be difficult for many to navigate when searching for mission related events.
How about changing Kudos to require the player to actually have to go in-world to earn points, and only give Kudos points for completing Approved missions, farming or crafting. How about bringing back the VIP mission bonuses for players who have supported this game with their hard earned money. Why are 1CL players able to level as fast as 320CL? Levels USED to be something players venezia were proud of. How about not limiting mission makers creativity by forcing them to shoehorn missions to be 30 minutes or less to be approved, and allow no upper time limit for inclusion in the approval process. Some stories can not be told in chapters, or under 30 minutes.
