The 'Indian Express' of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes made his last appearance in a Grand Slam nine years ago at the Australian Open. On Thursday, the pair met in Melbourne to try to complete the Grand Slam in their careers, starting italo with a win 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 win over Ivo Karlovic and Dusan Vemic.
The win was even more special for Bhupathi, 36 dren, who won his party No. 600 since it began as a professional in 1995. Only 16 other players italo in the Open Era was reached this mark.
Bhupathi and Paes have won three of the four Slams, but have fallen in his two appearances in the final of the Australian Open, including that took together in 1999. Paes also reached the final in 2006 with Martin Damm and Bhupathi in 2009 Mark Knowles.
