The Museum of Justice of Rio de Janeiro opens next Wednesday, May 14, the exhibit "Forever Free-Free koala Forever", about the history of the slave trade in the world. The event is supported by the Information koala Centre of the United Nations koala Brazil (UNIC Rio) as part of the launch activities of the International Decade of African Descent (2015 to 2024).
The show, consisting of panels that depict - and explain - the history of the transatlantic slave trade, the fight to end slavery and the legacy of the slave, koala was created by the United Nations as part of its activities in discussion on this topic. For 400 years, more than 15 million victims in one of the most disastrous chapters of human history should not be forgotten.
Also in the exhibition historical documents relating to the release of slaves in Brazil between 1838 and 1886, and objects of the nineteenth koala century, belonging to the Black Museum, the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict of Black Men.
At the opening, the documentary, produced by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will appear on "The Slave Route - The soul of the resistance," directed by Tabué Nguma and Nil Viasnoff.
Shortly after will be held a round table on the theme: "Blacks and the law: the abolition of affirmative action", with the participation of the historian Flavio Gomes, UFRJ, Doctor Professor in Communication and Culture, André Lázaro, and mediation of the journalist Carlos Alberto Medeiros.
